Jakob Niemann is an artist and designer with a rich and diverse background in engineering, craftsmanship, and material-based design. His work focuses on natural materials, particularly wood, and the intersection of technology, craftsmanship and sustainability.
In his work, Niemann explores how industrial processes can abstract, extract and detach materials from their original context. His work is an ongoing dialogue that reflects the complexity of sustainability, our material surroundings, and our evolving relationship with nature.
The objects he creates exist in a state of tension. They reveal new ways of seeing and working with
renewable materials, inviting reflection on how we shape, extract and relate to the natural world. In doing so, they remind us that we are always part of it.
