forest beam
Forest Beam (6″ x 1″) has the dimensions of standard timber, but its making is entirely different. Fallen branches, half-rotted logs, and fresh cuts — old and young, decaying and green — are fitted like a puzzle, without glue or nails. As the wood dries, it locks into place. What begins as forest fragments becomes a single beam, questioning industrial uniformity and imagining a future where every part of the forest contributes to the whole.
This piece is part of a commission for the ‚Forest Beam‘ series. I shaped a variety of wooden pieces and fitted them together like a puzzle. The pieces hold together without glue or screws, forming a unified whole that symbolizes unity and the symbol of the wooden cross.
